FLIGHT CENTRE TRAVEL GROUP CORPORATE DIVISION WELCOMES THE REOPENING OF ADDITIONAL AIRPORTS

JOHANNESBURG, 16 JULY 2020 – Flight Centre Corporate SME, comprising Corporate Traveller and Flight Centre Business Travel (FCBT), has welcomed the announcement of Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula that three additional South African airports will reopen for business travel.

From 21 July, East London Airport, George Airport and Kimberley Airport will resume operations for domestic travel for business and essential purposes.

“Mining is an integral part of our economy. The opening of Kimberley Airport is great news for the mining sector as it allows for easier connectivity to key sites,” says Oz Desai, GM Corporate Traveller.

Corporate Traveller recently conducted a comprehensive ‘State of the Market’ survey. This survey revealed that businesses in the mining and construction sectors indicate the fastest return to travel with 64% of respondents in the mining sector expecting to travel domestically within one to three months and 69% of respondents in construction sector expected to travel locally within the same timeframe.

The survey further showed that construction (39%), training & education (35%) and financial services (34%) sectors would even increase business travel within first six months, due to a shorter lead time in arranging business travel.

Travellers or companies who would like to have more details surrounding the permits required to support the reason for business and essential travel can visit the recently launched Traveller Hub, an interactive resource providing extensive up-to-date Covid-19 travel information.

Users can search by supplier category, country or region for the latest news on border changes and restrictions; airline routes and safety procedures for travellers; hotel re-openings and hygiene measures; as well as rail travel and car hire announcements.

The Traveller Hub is fully integrated within Corporate Traveller’s Your.CT technology platform, and can also be accessed via Sam, the AI-based mobile app used by Corporate Traveller clients.
