Philile Foundation

Philile (which is Zulu for ‘I am alive; full of life’) is a non-profit organisation that is expanding to transform the lives of children and disadvantaged communities in South Africa. Philile was founded in 2008 by Kaleb Willems with support from GodFirst Church. The first Philile Pre-school was opened in Johannesburg’s inner city suburb of Hillbrow.

Corporate Traveller has been a sponsor of Philile since 2008 and through our partnership with the management and staff we are proud to watch them grow.

From humble beginnings in the Hillbrow unit Philile has now opened a second day care centre in Diepsloot Extension 12 and has plans to expand into Cosmo City as soon as funding allows.

In 2011 Corporate Traveller was instrumental in assisting the Philile Foundation expand the Diepsloot pre-school with a new container to provide extra schooling facilities for additional children from the Diepsloot area.

Philile aspires not only to provide quality education, but to see the physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and social development of children addressed, alongside employing and training teachers from the local community. Philile aims to introduce and develop new strategies for inner city and urban education; breaking the cycle of underachievement in socially and economically deprived areas.

Corporate Traveller is committed to playing an active and supportive role in the Philile Foundation by providing sponsorship, volunteers and social development. Please visit our press office for up to date information on our activities with the foundation.
